On Friday, November 7th, the Visual Effects Society, representing the thousands of craftsmen in the diverse field of visual effects across all forms of media, honored the “Father of Tokusatsu”, Eiji Tsuburaya in a heartwarming ceremony — one that was attended by the man’s most famous creation, Ultraman!
President of Tsuburaya Productions Masayoshi Nagatake was there to accept the honor on behalf of the late Tsuburaya, helping recount the public of the founder’s work and innovation in the fields of cinematography and filmmaking.
However, as is wont to happen, Alien Baltan, ever the cosmic troublemaker, invaded the ceremony, intent on disrupting the occasion. Thankfully, where Baltan goes, Ultraman soon follows, and for many of the visual effects professionals in the audience, seeing the Giant of Light battle and defeat the invader felt like their work had come to life in front of them!
