This week Ultrafans were given a treat with Ultraman Blazar Episode 9, “Planet of Music”. Standing as one of the most acclaimed episodes of Blazar to date, “Planet of Music” played with multiple aesthetics, offered a beautiful and thrilling plot, paid homage to previous Ultraman generations, and gave us our necessary dose of Pigmon… or something like it, in Garamon. Furthermore, we got to know Gento and Blazar’s dynamic better, we got another close look at Anri, and overall we got a reminder that Blazar’s stamina as a series is not wavering!
Some fans made predictions for the episode, taking some creative liberty with their expectations… But hey! Anything is possible, can’t blame the people for wanting what they want.
Well we didn’t get to hear Blazar sing, but we did get to see a brief Blazar-possession, characterized by Gento’s single shining blue eye and strange curiosity (and ultimate disdain) for… Vegetable juice?

We also got a glimpse of communication, and although it was fragmented and left us wanting more, we did get some sweet insight.
I can’t help but think when Gento talks to Blazar he does it in almost a child-like manner not to undermine him! But he does it to make Blazar comfortable to communicate, coz Gento himself knows how to talk to a child or someone who’s not used to talking https://t.co/EEzN6W1Jfv

Maybe the unpredictable nature of Blazar and Gento’s relationship is what distinguishes their host-Ultra relationship. There’s a raw power in their mutual controlled chaos, however the great Garamon challenged Blazar and the whole SKaRD team alongside the Cicada Humans.

And it’s always entertaining figuring out what our team is really up against. Especially when the reveal is punctuated with such a compelling soundtrack.
But they aren’t just aliens, the Cicada Humans pulled on our heart strings in ways alien invaders usually don’t.

And if we’re talking about nostalgia and great soundtracks, we have to mention how we even got to hear the Ultra Q theme! What a sweet surprise.

Fans honored the episode by expressing gratitude for the episode’s writer, Sumio Uetaka, who passed away early this year. From all Ultra-fans to the great beyond, thank you, Sumio Uetaka for a beautiful narrative!
LRT; Tomunobu Koshi said Sumio Uetaka sadly never saw the finished episode before he passed away

This week’s episode gave us everything it had to offer and “soulful” is the perfect word to capture it all.
