We Made it to Stage 150 in Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch And All It Cost Us Was Sleep

It’s been a few weeks since Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch dropped, and we at UC have been… maybe a little addicted. Match-3 gameplay is already a time-tested time-eater, and there’s very little we won’t do for more adorable chibi PNGs of our favorite Ultras and Kaiju.

At the same time, dear UC reader, you may be running into some gameplay walls — make no mistake, the game gets demanding past a certain point, and your lone 4-diamond Ultraseven may not be able to make the grade. The easy way to get ahead is obviously to roll the gacha, but that may not be viable for you right now — so we’re here to give you a few tips and tricks we used to get to where we are without spending a dime.

Puzzle1

Well, a few dimes. They had Sevenger and Z for 99 cents…

TIP 1: ROLL THE GACHA (Seriously)

Puzzle2

It’s funny, isn’t it? Right after saying that this advice is to help you save money while getting ahead, we tell you to roll the gacha?

Listen, we’re not telling you to spend money on gems (though if you do, we’re not going to say no), but rolling the gacha is literally necessary.

Both the character and core gachas have levels, that go up the more you roll. The highest-level characters in the game aren’t actually available until you’ve leveled up the gacha sufficiently, and that means rolling. Each roll gives one pip of experience, so to get to the highest end, where you can get those coveted 4-star characters (including Jugglus Juggler, everyone’s favorite).

Puzzle3

In the case of the core gacha, it’s even more important to level up, because extra slots for cores open up in your roster at gacha levels 7, 9, and 11. Those are huge boons to your ability to meet those power gates beyond Level 100.

Now granted, just because you need to roll doesn’t mean you need to spend. The game is genuinely very generous with free gems, offering amounts that actually increase as the game goes on, to the point where right now we get 300 — enough for a 10-roll — for each main stage we complete. Events, which are constantly occurring, offer resources including gems to roll with, and finally, there’s the daily option…

TIP 2: DO YOUR DAILIES!

OK, we know that none of this is coming across as particularly revolutionary, but if you want to get the most out of your account, you have to do every stage available to you. These include the 5 daily MGT mission stages that grant different types of resources. All of them are worth doing, and each time you complete them, they go up a level of difficulty, and a level of rewards.

Puzzle3.5

Of the five, the most important is the Short-Term Battle, which grants gems and Signs of a Wish (Character Gacha materials) and Planetary Memory (Core Gacha materials). At the level we’re at (50), we’re getting 15 rolls for each gacha per stage finished! After that is the Expeditionary Research, a stage that grants not only guaranteed Milanos Quartz, the material that strengthens character abilities, but can also offer various different resources you get to choose from in between parts of a stage!

Now, here’s the rub — After a certain point, the difficulty of these dailies may surpass your ability to complete them. Because tickets for these stages get burned whether you finish the stage or not, it may be a waste to throw your face against the wall repeatedly — so don’t be afraid to go down to the level you most recently finished and auto-clear that level. Guaranteed rewards are better than an offer of better rewards you can’t earn, after all!

TIP 3: FIND FRIENDS!

Finally, and most importantly for long-term success, you need to join a Troop, a collection of like-minded players who all work together to succeed at events. Troops offer you two big, big benefits every day:

One, each time you log in, you can gift all your troopmates an extra 5 energy and 5 troop coins each. By that same token, the same gifts can come to you, from every member of your troop, so a fully formed group starts paying dividends quickly.

Two, those troop coins you get given are used in the exclusive troop store, where they can get you some extremely useful items, including Signs of a Wish and Planetary Memory at 20 for 100 coins. That means that if you have a full troop of 10 active players, you’re making an extra 20 rolls every 2 days!

In addition, you need to be in a troop to participate in Kaiju Invasions, events that pit two troops against one another to compete for the best scores against marauding aliens and Kaiju. Winners are rewarded with fabulous prizes, so compete as much as you can!

Puzzle5

The last thing we can recommend to get good at Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch is just to play — have fun gathering characters and competing to end up on top, or just casually mess around. Ultraman Puzzle Shuwatch is now available on iOS and Android for free with some microtransactions.
