For almost 60 years, the Ultraman Series has been a memorable and genre-defining piece of tokusatsu storytelling. None of that would have been possible without the creative mind, talent, and sensational effort of the late Eiji Tsuburaya, the “God of Tokusatsu”. This November, fans will get a chance to discover the town that shaped that very visionary — Sister City of the Land of Light, Sukagawa!
From November 14th to November 18th, 2024, Fans from North America will be able to participate in the “Fantacreation Festival in Sukagawa”, a once-in-a-lifetime special tour that will take a limited group from Tokyo to Sukagawa, where they will get a chance to not only explore the culture of Japan and this artistically-important city, but also get to visit culturally significant places like Eiji Tsuburaya’s birthplace Otsukaya, the Tsuburaya Eiji Museum, and the Sukagawa Tokusatsu Archives Center.
Special events like the Ultra Six Brothers Live Show, meet and greet sessions with various Ultraman heroes, as well as education in traditional Japanese artistic disciplines that Sukagawa specializes in, will be part of the special tour. Everything is perfect for not just Ultraman fans, but those who wish to understand how tokusatsu as an artistic medium developed!
