The case features Ultraseven assuming a proud stance in front of the rising sun, the back displaying Guts, Metron and King Joe posted in front of the moon, ready to attack. The discs are decorated with Kaiju and aliens as well. Miclas, Alien Chibull, Alien Cannan, Agira, Guyros, and Pandon stare intimidatingly, gatekeeping the series.

The additional booklet includes the history of the show’s production, breakdowns of all technology, characters and kaiju in the world of Ultraseven as well as an episode guide breaking down all plot synopses.

If you’re a long time Ultrafan, there’s no doubt your nostalgia chord will be tugged the second the theme begins, now playing in crisp, high definition. The iconic opening and soundtrack have never looked and sounded better.

Watch as the Terrestrial Defense Force’s Ultra Guard does their part in protecting Earth against Kaiju and aliens in the Age of Interplanetary War, with the help of Dan Moroboshi, AKA Ultraseven in human disguise. With mature motifs of war, social injustice, and the drive of the human soul, paired with whimsical visuals, vibrant special effects, and larger-than-life battles, Ultraseven is an energetic whirlwind and the perfect blend of fun, drama, and emotionality.

Commander Kaoru Kiriyama, brawny Shigeru Furuhashi, precision-shooter Soga, medic Anne Yuri, and the brains of the operation Amagi are joined by Dan, who uses the Ultra Eye to transform into our hero Ultraseven. He enters battle with some of the most essential enemies in the franchise — Fearsome foes like Eleking, King Joe, Alien Metron, Pandon, and many more challenge our hero and threaten the future of our planet, using a plethora of twisted schemes.

Cold War-style intrigue is a throughline of the series. In episode 8 “The Targeted Town,” what seems like a curse plaguing the small town of Kitagawa, causing a series of horrible random tragedies, is actually the doing of Alien Metron. Metron is using space opium to create cigarettes with brainwashing components that cause humans to antagonize each other. He tests Seven’s unconditional love for humanity, attempting to prove the point that we are all only a puff away from destroying each other beyond repair — A gut-wrenching point that is truer than it should be.

Not all enemies are so straight forward, however, such as the Pegassa in episode 6, “Dark Zone”. These highly-advanced, yet desperate aliens reluctantly try to course-correct their at-risk planet by sending their orbit on a path directly towards Earth in an attempt to save themselves. They do not want to hurt us intentionally, but ultimately, we are primitive to them and worth the risk of mutual destruction.

And of course, we get some good old-fashioned invasions, including one known as the “Greatest in History,” by the Alien Ghose and Pandon, who take advantage of our beaten-down hero at his weakest point, and make one final attempt at conquering Earth.

Dan constantly faces threats to humanity, the despair and chaos of our ever-expanding universe, and his own mortality, as he fights for what is right using his capsule monsters, his iconic Eye Slugger, and many more epic powers.
