With the end of Ultraman Blazar, the time has come, once again, for our yearly Ultraman Retsuden series, with this year featuring the return of the beloved New Generation Stars in a new form. While last year’s iteration of Stars featured the heroic Ultraman Zero attempting to save the legacy of the Ultras, this year, our primary sojourner through the hallowed past is someone distinctly more human — the brain of STORAGE herself, Yuka Ohta from Ultraman Z!
Yuka is the scientific mind behind a number of the “Special Aircraft” series of robots that include Sevenger, Windam, and King Joe STORAGE Custom. Growing up with a fascination with Kaiju, Yuka became part of the GAFJ (Global Allied Forces Japan) after returning from studies abroad that granted the young genius a number of degrees and expertise. Despite a number of funny proclivities — like her love for making truly bizarre “health drinks” — Yuka was, and to this day is considered the greatest mind in the GAFJ.
Yuka is responsible for the creation of Windam and the retrofitting of King Joe STORAGE Custom, but the robot closest to her heart is Sevenger, the beloved, sad-eyed original Special Aircraft. Having seen the robot’s inaugural battle against Namegon as a young teen studying in America, Yoko credits that scene as what brought her to the GAFJ in the first place.
In the aftermath of the events of Ultraman Z, Yuka has continued to innovate with Sevenger, creating the Space Sevenger upgrade, and as New Generation Stars begins, she continues to research ways to bring the plucky robot into the future… But if you want to know more about that, you’ll have to check out Ultraman New Generation Stars, starting this Friday, January 26th!
